Orchestra Raïs of Fes: Founded by the late Hajj Abdelkrim Raïs in 1946, the Orchestra Raïs of Fes was formerly known as Orchestra al-Brihi, and has been one of the best known orchestras in Morocco. Much demanded throughout Europe and the Arab world under the direction of Mohammed Briouel, the Orchestra visited New York three years ago to inaugurate Zankel Hall of Carnegie Hall. |

Mohammed Briouel: Briouel is the director of the Conservatoire de Musique de Fès, and successor of the great master of Andalusian music of Morocco, the late Hajj Abdelkrim Raïs. In 1986, he received the Prix de Maroc for publishing Moroccan Andalusian Music: Nuba Gharibat al Husayn. In this book, he transcribed the eleven Moroccan Nubas into western notation. |

Noureddine Tahiri: A native of Fes, Tahiri started his music training at zaouias in his youth. At age 18, he started studying Andalusian music in Ensemble al-Brihi with the Hajj Abdelkrim Rais. Having received many prizes and recognitions, and participated in international music festivals, he is now considered as one of the leading vocalists in Morocco’s classical music world. |
